The Delta, a new food court at Red Wind Casino, was set to have its grand opening at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31. The Thurston County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Delta has four businesses: La Casa Roja Tex Mex, Nisqually Grounds, Jade Asian Cuisine and Al Vento Rosso Italian Kitchen, according to the casino’s website.

The casino is at 12819 Yelm Highway SE, Olympia.

“We’re basically taking the buffet that was closed during COVID and turning that space into Quick Service Restaurants and that’s going to be the Delta,” said Red Wind Casino General Manager Conrad Granito in a statement.

Dozens to be laid off when Olympia business closes

The Olympia area location of a business called Advanced Drainage Systems will close toward the end of March, according to the state Employment Security Department.

Fifty-four workers will be affected by the closure, according to the state’s information.

The state received what is known as a worker adjustment and retraining notification about the closure and layoffs.

The publicly traded Ohio-based business is a “manufacturer of stormwater and onsite septic wastewater management products and solutions for commercial, residential, infrastructure and agricultural applications,” company information reads.

The last day of production at the plant will be March 28 and the yard is expected to remain open until June 27, spokeswoman Heather Schreiber said in an email on Thursday.

“We came to the difficult decision to close the Olympia plant to optimize operations and enhance overall efficiency,” she said. “We have another plant in Washougal that is about 2 hours away from Olympia, and this move enables us to consolidate our efforts, while continuing to deliver sustainable stormwater management products to communities in the Northwest.”

Credit union coming to Britton Plaza

The proposal has become reality, according to the city of Lacey.

Representatives of Integrated Builders Group, who previously sought feedback about their project in Lacey, have now submitted plans to build a two-story, 15,000-square-foot administrative credit union building in the Britton Plaza at 2545 Marvin Road NE.

The city of Lacey received the site plan review application Jan. 7.

Shelton-based Our Community Credit Union will occupy the space, according to the city information. The Olympian reported earlier this month that the credit union had parted ways with its president and CEO after a year on the job.

Britton Plaza already is home to Providence Hawks Prairie Family Medicine, MiSo and Meconi’s.
