Olympia-area schools closed, on delays Friday morning as snow, ice blanket South Sound
Some schools in Thurston County and surrounding areas are closed or starting late Friday morning due to winter weather conditions.
Schools
THURSTON COUNTY
North Thurston Public Schools: Closed, no preschool. No buses will be operating. All after-school activities are canceled. More Info
Olympia SD: 3 hours late, a.m. buses on snow routes.There is no out-of-district transportation and no district transportation to or from New Market Skills Center. There is no a.m. or p.m. preschool (full-day preschool continues), no a.m. Oly Bear (but p.m. continues), no zero-hour classes, no before-school activities, no Avanti HS Friday a.m. academic support or activities, and no a.m. child care. Lunch will be served throughout the district. UPDATE: Olympia School District bus routes 50 (ONLY Munson Rd SW) and 62 (ONLY Shellridge Rd NW) are on PM snow routes. All other buses in the district are running on regular PM bus routes. All after-school activities will continue as scheduled.

Cosmopolis SD: 2 hours late.
Grapeview SD: 2 hours late - No breakfast service.
McCleary SD: 2 hours late. Regular 1:30 p.m. dismissal.
Montesano SD: 2 hours late.
Oakville SD: 2 hours late, a.m. buses on snow routes. Student Hours are 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. No breakfast.
Ocosta SD: 2 hours late.
Taholah SD: 2 hours late.
Willapa Valley SD: 3 hours late, No a.m. preschool.
MASON COUNTY
Shelton SD: 2 hours late. No a.m. preschool, a.m. buses on snow routes, no out-of-district transportation.
Mary M. Knight SD: 2 hours late, no preschool.
Pioneer SD: 2 hours late, no preschool. Morning buses on snow routes, no out-of-district transportation. No breakfast
Southside SD: 1.5 hour late start
Colleges
Saint Martin’s University: Closed.
The Evergreen State College: Due to icy roads, Evergreen’s Olympia campus is in suspended operations until 11 a.m. No in-person classes until that time. Remote classes will continue. Students should contact faculty for specific class info. Required, emergency and essential staff report to work; all others work remotely. More Info.

Bates Technical College: Opening at 9 a.m. More Info.
Pierce College: 2 hours late. Opening at 10 a.m.
Private Schools
Charles Wright Academy: 2 hours late. Campus opens at 9:30 a.m. Classes start at 10:15 a.m. Buses are running a 2-hour delay with regular routes.
Pope John Paul II HS: Closed. Any before or after school activities are canceled.
Organizations
Skokomish Tribe: 2 hours late.
