Three people were hurt Friday night when a woman suspected of driving under the influence stopped her car on northbound Interstate 5 north of Chehalis, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 9:40 p.m., the 36-year-old Moses Lake woman was driving north when she stopped her car in the left lane of the freeway near milepost 79, troopers say.

A 41-year-old Chehalis man, driving north behind her with three passengers in his vehicle, then crashed into her, troopers say. The Moses Lake women’s vehicle hit the guardrail on the right shoulder and came to rest in a ditch, while the second Chehalis man’s vehicle came to rest in the left lane.

The Moses Lake woman, who is facing a vehicular assault charge, was injured as were two passengers in the other vehicle, ages 37 and 18. All three were taken to Providence Centralia Hospital.
