A 3-year-old boy was found walking along Wheeler Avenue alone last week, prompting a 911 call, according to Olympia police.

About 5 p.m. Feb. 10, a person was driving on the street, which parallels Interstate 5 between Boulevard Road and Eastside Street, and spotted the boy walking down the road, Olympia police Lt. Paul Lower said.

A couple of people in the vehicle tried to contact the child, then watched as he made his way back to a home in the area. They called 911, Lower said.

Police arrived and found that the boy was back safe in the home. However, police arrested a 30-year-old woman at the home because there was a no-contact order in place between the woman and a 60-year-old man there. He identified her as his wife, Lower said.

She also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, he said.

Police also had a discussion with the man about child safety and ways to prevent the incident from happening again. Lower said Child Protective Services was notified.
