Power was knocked out Sunday morning in the Lacey area after a driver crashed into a power pole, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

About 8:10 a.m., the driver, a woman coming home from her graveyard shift, fell asleep at the wheel and hit the pole in the area of Pacific Avenue Southeast and Oakcrest Drive Southeast, said Sgt. J.R. Klene.

Klene said the driver was not impaired.

About 4,800 Puget Sound Energy customers lost power immediately, but about 4,300 of them had their power restored by 10:30 a.m., spokesman Gerald Tracy said.

The remaining customers were expected to be back online by 8 p.m. Sunday, he said.
