A Rainier man has been died as the result of crashing his vehicle off U.S. Highway 12 on March 15, the Washington State Patrol said in a March 21 news release.

Tacoma General Hospital identified the man as Donald B. Bell, 80, of Rainier. According to the WSP release, Bell was traveling west on the highway at around 3 a.m. March 15 near milepost 78 when he struck the westbound ditch, rolled and came to a rest upside down.

Drugs or alcohol and speeding were contributing factors to the incident, according to the WSP news release. It’s unknown if Bell was wearing his seatbelt.
