UPDATE: The Thurston County Waste & Recovery Center at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE, Lacey, reopened to self-haul customers on Thursday, April 3.

Residents will need to hold off on hauling their garbage to the Thurston County Waste & Recovery Center in Lacey for now.

Thurston County Public Works closed the waste center to self-haul garbage drop off on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a maintenance issue with the garbage compactor, according to a news release. The center is at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE, which is northeast of where Interstate 5 and Marvin Road meet.

The public can still drop off food and yard waste and recycling as well as dispose of hazardous waste.

Anyone with questions can call the county at 360-867-2491 for assistance.
