Two men were hurt, including one seriously, in a wreck in Lewis County Monday morning, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 8:50 a.m., a 58-year-old Morton man was headed west on U.S. Highway 12 near the town of Silver Creek. Troopers say he attempted to pass traffic, crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into another driver.

That man, a 35-year-old from Ocean Park in Pacific County, was injured and airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital, according to State Patrol.

The Morton man also was hurt and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital.

Troopers said the cause of the crash was “unsafe passing.”
