One person was injured and several dogs are presumed to have died in a fire that destroyed a Tenino area home early Saturday morning, according to West Thurston Fire.

Fire crews were dispatched about 2:25 a.m. to the 600 block of 143rd Avenue Southeast near Tilley Road South. Once there, they found a two-story house engulfed in flames.

A single occupant was able to escape the home, but was treated at the scene for minor burns.

“Unfortunately, several dogs were in the house at the time and are presumed to have not escaped,” West Thurston Fire officials said in a news release.

Fire crews had to respond to two other fires at the same time and used off-duty staff to help. One of those fires was a car fire triggered by a wreck, according to the release.
