Dick’s Sporting Goods planned for Capital Mall in Olympia
A developer is planning to build a Dick’s Sporting Goods at Capital Mall in Olympia.
The 51,060-square-foot retail store will be on the south side of the mall next to Chuck E. Cheese’s. The new building will lead to a loss of 157 parking stalls, according to the proposal. Water and sewer lines will be routed around the new building, according to the proposal, which notes that existing utility connections in the vicinity will be “looked at and modified accordingly.”
The proposal will go before the city’s Site Plan Review Committee on Wednesday for a presubmission conference. This step in the process will help ensure that the developer is ready to move ahead with a formal application.
The Olympian has left messages seeking information about a construction timeline from developer Starwood Retail Partners in Newport Beach, California. A spokesperson for Capital Mall declined to comment on the proposed store.
Dick’s Sporting Goods is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The company had 603 stores in 46 states at the start of 2015, with a goal of 750 stores by the end of 2017, according to the company.
