A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes Saturday night, including vehicular assault, after an incident of road rage, Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.

The man was booked into jail about 11:15 p.m., jail log information shows.

Before then, deputies had been dispatched to the Scott Lake area after a report of a driver rear-ending a motorcyclist. That collision caused the motorcyclist to land on the car’s windshield.

“The driver of the car kept driving with the motorcyclist on the windshield, slammed the brakes to get the rider off their car, then ran them over,” Sanders said in his post. “The car then dragged the bike another few hundred feet before the driver fled on foot.”

The condition of the motorcyclist was not immediately known.

A police dog later found the man running down the street in the area of 113th Avenue and Tilley Road Southwest, according to the jail log.

“The driver was taken into custody without further incident, and showed signs of impairment,” Sanders said in his post.

The man was booked on suspicion of vehicular assault, hit and run and driving under the influence, the jail log shows.
