Deputies seize firearms and drugs after standoff in Yelm, Thurston Sheriff says
A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes Friday afternoon, including a threat to blow up another person, according to Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders, and jail and court information.
Deputies headed to the 22300 block of Autumnwood Court Southeast in Yelm after a call about a threat. “Deputies responded to the scene and developed probable cause for felony harassment threats to kill,” said Sheriff Sanders in a social media post.
The suspect refused to exit their home, a residence that was known to have multiple weapons, Sanders said. The county’s SWAT team and Washington State Patrol’s Bomb Squad were called.
“As the SWAT team began to activate with WSP’s Bomb Squad, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident,” Sanders said.
After obtaining a search warrant for the home, deputies found firearms, methamphetamine, scales, baggies, and other drug paraphernalia, according to the post.
“No evidence of explosives were located,” Sanders said.
The man, who was arrested about 3 p.m., was booked on suspicion of two counts of felony harassment/threats to kill, threat to bomb or injure property, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
