Kids can grab a free meal and snack at these schools this summer

Anyone 18 or younger can pick up a free summer meal from late June to mid August in Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater.

In Olympia, free summer meals will be available from June 23 to Aug. 15 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the following schools:

  • Garfield Elementary School at 325 Plymouth St. N.W.

  • Roosevelt Elementary School at 1417 San Francisco St. N.E.

In Lacey, free summer meals are available to be eaten on site at these North Thurston schools:

  • On weekdays from June 23 to Aug. 15, lunch (11:30 a.m. to noon) and snack (3:30 to 3:50 p.m.) will be available at Chambers Prairie Elementary at 6501 Virginia St. SE and at Lydia Hawk Elementary at 7600 Fifth Ave. SE.

  • On weekdays from July 7 to Aug. 8, breakfast (8 to 8:30 a.m.) and lunch (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) is available at Lacey Elementary at 1800 Homann Drive SE.

  • From June 30 to Aug. 7, Monday through Thursday, breakfast (7:15 to 7:45 a.m.) and lunch (11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.) is available at Timberline High School at 6120 Mullen Road SE.

  • On weekdays from June 23 to Aug. 15, lunch (noon to 12:20 p.m.) is available at Boys and Girls Club at 1105 Tracey Lane SE.

There will be no meals available July 4 in Olympia or Lacey because of the Independence Day holiday.

In Tumwater, free summer meals are available at these schools:

  • On weekdays from June 16 to Aug. 15, lunch (10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.) is available at Tumwater High School at 700 Israel Road.

  • On weekdays from July 14 to July 31, lunch (11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.) will be available at Bush Middle School at 2120 83rd Ave SW.

  • On weekdays from May 16 to July 24, lunch (11:15 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.) will be available at Cascadia High School at 7299 New Market St SW, Bldg E.

There will be no meals available in Tumwater on June 19, because of the Juneteenth holiday, or on July 4 because of Independence Day.

Established under the principle that good nutrition should be accessible year round, the Summer Food Service Program is a collaboration between the school districts, Washington state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Hunger Free Washington also supports families with summer food assistance.
