Two 15-year-old boys are accused of firing a water pellet gun at a pedestrian near Capital High School and a driver near MultiCare Capital Medical Center on Saturday, according to Olympia police.

About 5:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Cooper Point Road at Conger Avenue Northwest after a 54-year-old man who was walking in the area said he was hit on his side with a pellet gun. He looked up and saw a white car driving away from him, police Lt. Paul Lower said.

Ninety-minutes later, police were dispatched to Kaiser Road at Seventh Avenue Southwest where a female driver said two boys in a white car had fired a pellet at her vehicle as they passed by, she said.

Using the vehicle description, police were able to determine the owner of it, which led them to a residence in the area, the two boys and a parent, Lower said.

Both boys were very apologetic, he said.

They were not arrested, but potential charges of fourth-degree assault were referred to the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Lower said.

The pellet gun, according to police, is an Orbeez gun, which fires superabsorbent polymer (SAP) beads that expand significantly when hydrated.
