Headed north Saturday morning? Expect a lane closure at the Nisqually Bridge, WSDOT says
Saturday morning travelers who use northbound Interstate 5 will encounter a single lane closure near the Nisqually River Bridge, the state Department of Transportation announced.
From 6 a.m. to noon Saturday, WSDOT bridge maintenance crews will close the right lane so that crews can repair cracks and replace rivets on the northbound bridge.
To make those repairs, WSDOT will use what they call an “under bridge inspection truck.”
The northbound I-5 Nisqually River Bridge was built in 1937, according to WSDOT. The span was rebuilt in 1982. The bridge was repainted in 2014. On average approximately 63,000 vehicles use the northbound I-5 Nisqually River Bridge each day.
