An Oregon driver is facing a negligent driving charge after that alleged negligence resulted in a Thursday night wreck on Interstate 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 11:15 p.m., the 63-year-old Corvallis, Oregon, woman was headed north on I-5 in Lewis County, approaching Chehalis.

Troopers say the following happened: The driver “became distracted,” then swerved left and right and struck a light pole on the right shoulder. The vehicle was then sent spinning into the center median, according to State Patrol.

The driver was hurt and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital.

She faces a second-degree negligent driving charge, a State Patrol memo reads.
