Olympia’s Capital City Pride will last 3 days. Here’s what to know before the weekend

Downtown Olympia will be bustling with events and people from day to night this coming weekend in celebration of Capital City Pride.

Whether you want to catch the parade on Sunday or party from morning until the bars close, there’s something for everyone this weekend. Here’s a list of events from Friday to Sunday, broken up by daytime and nighttime. More information can be found on Capital City Pride’s website.

Friday daytime

Block Party, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fifth Avenue and Water Street, takes place in the streets of downtown, and, according to Capital City Pride, is a great way to get a taste of the big festival without all the hustle and bustle. It will include a community variety show featuring local artists, drag entertainers and musicians. It’s an all-ages event produced and hosted by Luna Delyte.

Friday nighttime

Pride Soiree, 8 to 11 p.m. at Wild Child Taps, 414 Fourth Ave. E. There will be music and live performances. The venue is typically all ages, but the Pride event is 21+ and ticketed, with $15 tickets available online in advance or in cash at the door. The event is produced by Carrie Morningwood and Roxy Boggio.

Saturday daytime

Music & Art Fest, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Port Plaza Tower Stage, 701 Columbia St. NW. Events will include a community group wedding where multiple couples marry simultaneously, touring DJs, a flash mob dance party, voguing, drag and more.

The Olympia Symphony will be performing its annual free outdoor concert at the plaza at 11 a.m. Saturday. The all-ages program is titled “Believe.” It will include Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, Saint‑Saëns’ The Swan, Puccini’s Musetta’s Waltz from “La Bohème,” and selections from “Rent,” performed live with Harlequin Productions, and more.

“This performance isn’t just about great music,” communications manager Mando Surita said in a news release from the symphony. “It’s Olympia Symphony showing our love and support for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, connecting through creativity and solidarity.”

There also will be performances from local and touring bands such as Porch Cat, Fern Spores, Laura Cheadle and the Girls, and more.

LGBT+ Health & Wellness Fair, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW, 2nd Floor.

There will be a panel discussion with folks from medical institutions that the community can take part in. The event will also feature a pole dancing workshop, an interactive queer history timeline and a quiet room for folks looking to get away from the festival.

Saturday nighttime

Pride Variety Show, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. The 18-and-older, ticketed event will feature live comedy and burlesque performances. Tickets are $21.25 if purchased beforehand, or $26.25 at the door. The event is hosted by Latina K Turner D’Ho.

Dance Party, 10 p.m. until close at Wild Child, 414 Fourth Ave. E. The event will feature music and a photo booth. It’s 21+ and $8 cash at the door.

Sunday daytime

Parade & Rally, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., from Tivoli Fountain on the Capitol Campus to Heritage Park on Capitol Lake. Community members are encouraged to join the Pride Parade and the rally that follows.

Dyke Day in the Park, 2 to 5 p.m. at Heritage Park. The all-ages event will feature dancing and local DJs.

Sunday nighttime
