A driver was stopped on Carpenter Road Northeast Saturday night for driving 100 miles per hour, Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.

Sanders said he initially could not catch up to the speeding driver because the driver was going so fast, Sanders said.

The driver was cited for reckless driving and racing, he said.

The vehicle was impounded and taken to what Sanders called “car jail.”
