A 16-year-old driver accused of fleeing from law enforcement was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes Saturday night or early Sunday morning, according to Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders.

Sanders posted his arrest narrative on social media about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, but did not provide the location of the chase or eventual arrest.

Olympia police were alerted to a stolen vehicle via Flock camera technology, which prompted an attempted traffic stop, according to Sanders.

The 16-year-old drove away, and the traffic stop was terminated, he said.

Sheriff’s deputies then located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit when the driver failed to stop, Sanders said in his post.

“The driver fled at speeds of 100 mph throughout central (Thurston) county when deputies got a good spike,” he wrote. “As the vehicle slowed down, a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver was conducted, bringing the pursuit to an end.”

The 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful imprisonment because the passenger had begged the driver to stop, Sanders wrote.
