Unconfirmed reports of man with gun at SPSCC. Police say avoid area

Olympia and Tumwater police were dispatched to South Puget Sound Community College at 2100 Mottman Road at 2:51 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon after receiving multiple unconfirmed reports of a man with a gun wearing a bulletproof vest.

Police are investigating the reports and advise people to avoid the area. S.P.S.C.C. has declared a lockdown for an active violent threat at the Olympia campus and urge students and staff to remain indoors.

As law enforcement work to reunify roughly 100 students who were on S.P.S.C.C. ‘s Olympia campus with their families, Thurston County Sherrif, Washington State Patrol and Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey police continue to search outlying areas for the suspect.

No injuries have been reported and no shots have been fired as of Tuesday afternoon, but the suspect has yet to be identified or detained.
