Nearly 200 birds, including chickens, turkeys and geese, 33 pigs, four dogs and one bull were recently rescued from “truly horrific and unacceptable living conditions,” the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media.

Over the past week, deputies served two unrelated search warrants tied to ongoing animal abuse investigations, according to the post.

“We are incredibly grateful to our community partners and friends who assisted with the safe recovery, transport, and care of these animals as the investigation moves forward,” the post reads.

The sheriff’s office thanked the following groups: Joint Animal Services, Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County, Center Valley Animal Rescue, Heartwood Haven, Yelm FFA, Misspits Rescue, and Nelson Ranch.
