Firefighters put out a blaze that damaged several apartment units in Tumwater Monday afternoon.

Tumwater Fire Department responded to Alpine Village Apartments, located at 301 T Street SW, just before 2 p.m. The crews found a “heavy fire” in the second-floor apartments that was spreading to adjacent units, according to a TFD social media post.

Crews acted quickly to put out the fire and all residents safely evacuated, the post says. Three cats and a dog were reportedly removed from the units as well, albeit with some minor injuries.

In all, three apartments sustained heavy damage and adjacent units sustained minor damage, according to the post.

“Tumwater FD is working with the property manager and Red Cross to assist impacted residents,” the post says.

Crews from several other agencies assisted Tumwater Fire Department during this response, including Olympia Fire Department, Lacey Fire District 3 and South Bay Fire Department.
