The Intercity Transit Authority, which runs Thurston County’s bus system, is seeking civic-minded individuals to serve on its Community Advisory Committee (CAC).

The CAC is a 20-member advisory group. Nineteen members serve three-year terms, while youth positions serve one-year terms. IT is seeking people who want to provide feedback and help shape transit issues and policies. Successful candidates are eligible for a monthly stipend to support their participation.

To apply, you must live, work, or attend school in Thurston County. IT is seeking a CAC that represents a cross-section of the community, including transit users, business owners, nonprofit representatives, students and other community members, including active-duty military and veterans, BIPOC, people living with disabilities, fixed-income families, LGBTQ+ community, seniors, youth and people living in rural areas.

How to apply

Applications are available at intercitytransit.com or you can pick up a physical form at the Olympia Transit Center, 205 Franklin St. NE, or at IT’s Administrative Office at 510 Pattison St. SE, Olympia.

Complete the online form, email your application to acollins@intercitytransit.com, or mail your completed application to Intercity Transit, Attn: CAC, P.O. Box 659, Olympia, WA 98507.

Additional information about the CAC can be found at intercitytransit.com.

The advisory board serves the Intercity Transit Authority, a nine-member Board of Directors who set policy and direction for the transit agency; it is made up of elected officials who represent the Thurston County Board of Commissioners and the cities of Lacey, Tumwater, Olympia, and Yelm, a labor representative, and three community representatives.
