Smash burger site opens in Tumwater and Trader Joe’s confirms new Lacey store
Brewhouse Grill and Smash Burgers, which The Olympian first wrote about at the end of April, has opened at the Tumwater Craft District, the business announced across its social media presence.
And it already has received some positive reviews from those who frequent the popular Best of Olympia Facebook page.
Said one commenter: “Let me start with the perfect grill on the most perfect sourdough,” “flavorful smashed quality meat,” “the bacon is cooked to perfection.”
“This is quality food,” the commenter wrote. “Quality ingredients and they actually care how they assemble it all.”
Some burgers on the menu:
- Blue cheese smash: blue cheese, American cheese, red onion, lettuce and mayo.
- Western smash: pepper jack cheese, onion rings, bacon and barbecue sauce.
- Maui wowie smash: swiss cheese, red onion, grilled pineapple, tomato, lettuce, Japanese barbecue sauce, sriracha and mayo.
Brewhouse Grill, which is at 4212 Capitol Blvd. SE, is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Trader Joe’s confirms new store
Days after The Olympian learned through public records that Trader Joe’s is coming to Lacey, a spokesperson reached out and shared the official website listing for the new store.
As expected, the store is coming to 691 Sleater Kinney Road SE, the site of a former Rite Aid.
Lacey issues environmental decision for early learning center
Lacey’s Community and Economic Development department has issued a mitigated determination of non-significance relative to the environmental impact of the future Young Child and Family Center, the city announced. That means the project can proceed without a full Environmental Impact Statement.
The Young Child and Family Center is to be constructed on a 15.82-acre site immediately north of Nisqually Middle School at 425 Marvin Road SE, according to the city.
“The Early Learning Center will provide 18 classrooms with a maximum capacity of 20 children each to support approximately 360 children per morning and afternoon sessions, and 85 staff members,” the city information reads.
“The building is approximately 47,000 square feet and will include a library that is planned to be operated by Timberland Regional Library. The proposed Early Learning Center campus will resemble an elementary school campus. The project includes construction of a new building, a parking lot, bus loading area, lighting, new ADA accessible sidewalks, soft and hard play playgrounds, and a grass playfield. The completed project will include approximately 124 parking spaces.”
Need another U-Haul destination?
Well, we’ve got one. Falcon Ground Transport has signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer to serve the Olympia area.
Falcon Ground Transport, which is at 6303 Rich Road SE, will offer U-Haul trucks and moving supplies.
“During these challenging times for small businesses, more than 21,000 dealers across the U.S. and Canada are generating supplemental income through their U-Haul affiliation,” officials with U-Haul Co. of Washington say.
