Man hit and killed by train in Nisqually Valley Thursday evening identified
A 40-year-old man who was hit and killed by a train Thursday evening has been identified by the Thurston County Coroner’s Office.
About 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18, emergency personnel were dispatched to railroad tracks near Durgin Road Southeast, which runs between Old Pacific Highway and the Nisqually River.
Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said a 911 call came in from Amtrak stating one or two people were on the tracks, and one had been struck, The Olympian reported.
The person who had been struck was Paul Hendricks, and he was pronounced dead when emergency personnel arrived.
Hendricks died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries, Coroner Gary Warnock said Tuesday. The man had no known address, he said.
