A 19-year-old Rainier man, suspected of driving under the influence, is facing a vehicular assault charge after two passengers were injured in a Friday night wreck on Maytown Road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported between Interstate 5 and Tilley Road. Troopers say the 19-year-old driver struck a pole on the side of the road about 11:30 p.m.

His two passengers were male and female juveniles, according to State Patrol. Both were injured.

The female was taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, while the male juvenile, although hurt, was not transported, according to a State Patrol memo about the crash.
