A 67-year-old Springfield, Oregon, woman died at an area hospital Friday night after a wreck on Interstate 5 near Lacey, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 7:20 p.m., the woman was headed north on I-5 approaching the Nisqually bridge. Troopers say she crashed into a right side barrier, which then sent her across all lanes and into a left side barrier.

Her Honda CRV came to a stop there, but it did not block the freeway, according to the State Patrol.

The woman was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia where she later died, the State Patrol reports.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
