Burglary suspect hid in restroom until business closed, Olympia police say

A downtown Olympia business was burglarized overnight Sunday after the suspect hid in the restroom until the business closed, police say .

About 9 p.m. Sunday, the suspect entered Charlie’s Bar & Grill in the 600 block of Fourth Avenue East and sat at a customer booth. He then disappeared into the restroom and did not emerge again until after the business closed, police Lt. Paul Lower said.

Video cameras show the man crawled out of the bathroom and into a business office where several envelopes filled with cash were stolen, Lower said.

The suspect then got to his feet and exited the business, Lower said. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored Seattle Seahawks jacket.

Employees discovered the theft about noon Monday, Lower said.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
