Lacey’s new Trader Joe’s opens this week. Here are the details
The long-rumored, long-discussed and long-awaited Trader Joe’s store in Lacey is opening this week, the business announced Friday.
The new store is at 691 Sleater Kinney Road SE. The business has filled a former Rite Aid building. It’s also part of South Sound Center.
The store is opening at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14. There will be a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony before the doors open at 9 a.m.
“Store Captain Phil Brown and Trader Joe’s crew members will be on hand to welcome customers to their new neighborhood store,” a news release reads.
More than 60 crew members, some of whom were hired and others who transferred from nearby Trader Joe’s, will work at the store. Trader Joe’s already operates a store on Black Lake Boulevard in west Olympia.
According to the news release, Lacey Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to enjoy to a range of nonprofit, community-based organizations daily.
