Olympia woman dies in single-vehicle wreck near Chambers Lake
An Olympia woman died in a single-vehicle wreck on Friday morning near Chambers Lake on the Olympia/Lacey border.
Lt. Paul Lower with the Olympia Police Department said the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 14 near the 3500 block of 14th Avenue Southeast. The road has two sharp curves in that area, connecting 14th Avenue to 18th Avenue around Chambers Lake.
The woman’s vehicle left the road and partially hit a tree and barrier. She was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock identified the woman as 46-year-old Stacy Hicks, of Olympia.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Hicks’ family, with a goal of raising $20,000. According to the fundraising page, Hicks was a front of house manager for the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. She was also the Director of Legal Services for Sound Legal Aid, and the Philanthropy Event Chair for the South Sound Partners for Philanthropy.
The fundraising page was organized by Sound Legal Aid Executive Director Sandra Miller, who said Hicks supported people facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives, not just with legal advice, but with compassion, patience and dignity.
“Stacy’s kindness was steady, her humor gentle, and her presence grounding,” Miller said on the fundraising page. “She made people feel safe. She made them feel seen. And she brought heart and sincerity into every space she entered.”
Lower said the cause of the accident is still being investigated.
