Man accused of rape turns himself in to Lacey police, jail information shows
A 41-year-old man accused of rape turned himself in to Lacey police Saturday afternoon, according to Thurston County jail information.
Lacey police Sgt. Jeremy Knight confirmed that the man showed up to Lacey City Hall at 420 College St. SE about 3:40 p.m.
Prior to turning himself in, though, police were investigating the incident after they were dispatched to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia earlier in the day to interview the victim, a 24-year-old woman, Knight said.
Once there, they learned the woman had been sexually assaulted overnight in the 1400 block of Dogwood St. SE.
Police later identified the man’s vehicle and employer. Although Knight believes the man’s arrest was imminent, the suspect turned himself in after police contacted the employer, he said.
The 41-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree rape and second-degree assault, jail information shows.
