Dream of living on a boat? See ‘one-of-a-kind’ vessel for sale in Olympia

Ever dreamed of living on a boat?

A “one-of-a-kind” liveaboard vessel is for sale in Olympia for $85,000, according to a Zillow listing.

The former Naval trawler from 1940 has about 300 square feet of livable space, including a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living space and walk-in closet/pantry, according to the listing.

“It lives like a studio apartment,” listing broker Kelly Barron of PCS Home Group told The Olympian.

The listing describes the boat as “a piece of history.”

Boat for sale in Olympia offers waterfront living

The boat is docked at West Bay Marina, with a monthly fee of $436, including water, Barron said.

The marina — near the well-known Tugboat Annies restaurant and downtown — allows people to live on their boats full-time, Barron said, although it’s currently at capacity for that kind of use.

That means the trawler’s buyer could stay on the boat a couple nights a week at the marina, or have it moved elsewhere, Barron said.

Trawler has potential as short-term rental

The vessel also “would make a fantastic short-term rental,” according to the listing.

“When people travel, it can be fun to stay in a unique place,” Barron said. “If you’re coming into the area, it’s a really unique experience to be on the water.”

The boat, which would need engine work to be ready for voyages once again, recently got an exterior paint job and new flooring, Barron said.

The 85-year-old vessel “has a unique and vintage vibe,” Barron said, adding that being aboard is “peaceful and relaxing.”
