Olympia police investigating hit-and-run that killed cyclist on Martin Way
A 41-year-old man riding a bicycle has died after he was hit by a car Saturday morning on Martin Way, according to Olympia police.
Police were dispatched to the 3200 block of Martin Way East about 3 a.m., police Lt. Paul Lower said. The man was found lying in the road and unresponsive. He was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia where he later died, Lower said.
The driver was headed west on Martin Way, then turned north onto Ensign Road after the collision and drove away, Lower said.
Police do not have a good vehicle description. A witness described the car as a small sedan and a check of video cameras in the area confirmed that information, Lower said.
They do not know the color of the vehicle because the video images were in black and white, he said.
Detectives are investigating, Lower said. Anyone with information is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
