Coroner identifies woman killed in head-on wreck on South Bay Road Saturday

A 44-year-old woman who died in a head-on collision on South Bay Road Saturday has been identified.

Frances “Moriah” Brown, a 44-year-old Olympia resident, died from multiple blunt force injuries due to the collision, Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock shared on Wednesday. He ruled her manner of death an accident.

The collision occurred at around 8:30 a.m. in the 800 block of South Bay Road, Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mike Brooks previously said. A driver – a woman in her mid-30s – travelled north on the road with Brown as a passenger. The driver allegedly crossed the center line and crashed into a southbound vehicle. Brown died at the scene.

First responders transported the driver to Providence St. Peters Hospital in Olympia. Deputies suspect her of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and driving under the influence, Brooks said. She remained in the hospital as of Tuesday, he said.

A woman in her early 40s drove the southbound vehicle, Brooks said. First responders also transported her to Providence St. Peters Hospital.
