Silver Alert canceled for missing 79-year-old last seen in Olympia area

Update: Washington State Patrol canceled the silver alert for Walter Manuel just before 2 p.m. Thursday after he was located.

Initial post: The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office asked the public to help them find a missing 79-year-old man on Thursday.

Walter Manuel was last seen on Wednesday around noon, according to a Washington State Patrol Silver Alert.

The alert describes Manuel as a 5-foot-10, 274-pound man with gray hair and brown eyes. He may be wearing dark blue slacks, a blue shirt, yellow jacket, blue baseball cap, glasses and black shoes. He drives a White 2021 Lincoln Aviator with license plate CDS2912.

The alert indicates Manuel may be unable to return without assistance. Anyone who sees him is advised to call 911. The case number is 26-00109.

WSP activated the alert on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Derek Sanders then shared it on his Facebook page Thursday morning.
