Thurston detectives ask for help to solve cold case homicide of mother of three

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its call for information about the homicide of Karen Bodine as the 19th anniversary of her death approaches.

Bodine, a mother of three, was found at dead at the entrance of an old gravel quarry located off of Littlerock Road Southwest, north of Rochester on Jan. 22, 2007.

“The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office continues to actively investigate the death of Karen Bodine and is urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward,” the agency shared in a Thursday Facebook post.

Bodine died due to strangulation, The Olympian previously reported. No arrests have been made in the case. Her family has remained motivated to find answers and the case has drawn the attention of true crime experts over the years.

The Thursday post indicated the Sheriff’s Office is “diligently” following up on all leads to piece to together what happened to Bodine.

“Someone knows something, and it’s not too late to come forward,” Sheriff Derek Sanders said in his own Facebook post Thursday.

Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff’s Office at TCSOColdcase@co.thurston.wa.us.

The Sheriff’s Office also invited the public to attend a vigil for Bodine from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan 22 at the intersection of Littlerock Road and Sargent Road Southwest.
