Mother and 4 children rescued from apartment fire, Lacey Fire District 3 says

A mother and four children were rescued from an apartment fire early Saturday morning, according to Lacey Fire District 3.

About 6:45 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to the 1500 block of College Street Southeast.

Once there, they found the five apartment dwellers “trapped by fire and smoke” on a second-floor balcony, fire district officials said in a social media post.

Crews deployed ladders and “rapidly removed all occupants from the balcony to safety,” according to the post.

Although rapidly removed, three of the apartment occupants were treated for minor smoke inhalation, the post reads.

“Fire was extinguished quickly and contained to the unit and room of origin,” the post reads.
