Want to watch the Seahawks Sunday with fellow fans? Try these Thurston Co. spots
The Seattle Seahawks are set to defeat (right?) the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday for the NFC Championship, which means it’s time to find a gathering spot for you and your fellow football fans to watch the game while enjoying some food and a beverage.
Unsure of where to go? The Olympian has a few suggestions.
Well 80
The downtown Olympia bar and restaurant on Fourth Avenue has eight TV screens and a 10-foot-wide projected image for the game, said owner Chris Knudson.
The timing is good, he said, because the start of the game — 3:30 p.m. — falls during Well 80’s 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. happy hour, typically a time for discounted prices.
The happy hour menu features burgers, pizzas and a Big Brewhouse salad, plus beer and wine, Knudson said. Sunday also happens to be a day when the business offers a 20% discount off the regular menu to those who work in the restaurant and brewery industry.
It’s going to be busy, so fans should show up about an hour before the game. Well 80, which opens at 11:30 a.m Sunday, is at 514 Fourth Ave. On-street parking in downtown Olympia is free on the weekends.
O’Blarney’s Irish Pub
O’Blarney’s Irish Pub has been a longtime destination for football and this Sunday is no exception, said manager Brittany Willis.
The bar and restaurant are expected to be full, but the business has the option of moving the pool tables around to create more seating, she said.
“It will be busy,” she said.
Expect raffles every quarter, specials on beer and special food items, including chili dogs and a “boomwrap,” which is a spicy, Philly cheese steak in a wrap, she said.
Want to get there early? Well, you could. O’Blarney’s opens at 7 a.m. at 4411 Martin Way E. It has parking.
3 Magnets Brewing Co.
3 Magnets, also in downtown Olympia, is a taproom, but you can bring your own food or buy from the food truck outside.
The bar seats 80 people and a back room another 40-50 people, said co-owner Sara Reilly. What can you watch the game on? A 90-inch TV in the bar and a 75-inch TV in the back room, she said.
Looking for a non-alcoholic option? That’s something that 3 Magnets specializes in. It’s sold under 3 Magnets’ Self-Care brand. Two of those beers will be on tap Sunday: The Self-Care IPA and the Self-Care Dark Czech Pilsner.
The nearby food truck is OG’s Smokehouse BBQ. Both 3 Magnets and OG’s open at noon Sunday. Reilly says to arrive early if you want some “killer barbecue.”
3 Magnets is at 600 Franklin St. SE, Suite 105. It has some parking, but remember: on-street parking is free downtown on weekends.
River’s Edge
River’s Edge, the bar and restaurant at Tumwater Valley Golf Club, will be serving food and drinks, as well doing prizes, giveaways and jello shots, said co-owner Pam Oates.
She recommends that fans show up about 30 minutes early because it will be busy. The business has a bar and restaurant but also banquet room space that can be opened up for additional customers.
She said the previous Seahawks game at River’s Edge was “very well attended” and produced a “really fun atmosphere.” Some customers brought cowbells, she said.
River’s Edge is at 4611 Tumwater Valley Dr. SE. It opens at 8 a.m.
Nicole’s Bar
Owner Nicole Andres could not immediately be reached, but the downtown bar on Legion Way is touting specials on Facebook for the big game, including specials on Coors Light, chicken wings and “totchos,” which are nachos made with tater tots instead of tortilla chips.
Nicole’s Bar is at 109 Legion Way SW. It opens at 9 a.m. Sunday.
