Lacey robbers smash car window and take driver’s wallet at gunpoint, police say

Lacey police arrested two people accused of robbing a person at gunpoint Tuesday night.

The alleged robbery occurred before about 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant on Quinault Drive Northeast, the Lacey Police Department shared on Facebook Wednesday.

A man allegedly told police two people smashed his driver-side window with a hammer, pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet. The pair then left the scene in a blue sports utility vehicle, according to the post.

The man reportedly described the vehicle to officers and shared the vehicle license plate. Lacey officers then shared that information with local law enforcement in the region.

Olympia police spotted the vehicle getting onto U.S. 101 and initiated a “high risk” stop with help from Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Law enforcement detained two occupants, a 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman.

Lacey police booked the pair into the Thurston County jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery and first-degree assault, according to the jail log.

The post said officers searched their car with a warrant, finding a hammer and a realistic looking BB gun.

“Thank you to our patrol officers for their swift response and to our partner agencies for the help getting these two in custody!” the post reads.
