Olympia freeway ramp will close during the day this week, WSDOT says

Update: Planned work on a Pacific Avenue freeway ramp in Olympia has been canceled, the state Department of Transportation announced Thursday morning. The work will be rescheduled.

The Pacific Avenue on-ramp to southbound Interstate 5 will close during the day on Thursday, the state Department of Transportation announced.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the eastbound Pacific Avenue on-ramp — it heads east and then curls around to southbound I-5 — will close to all travelers.

The ramp is closing so that WSDOT crews can work to improve drainage and visibility along the ramp, according to a news release. The work includes clearing a clogged drain and removing vegetation.

During the closure, a signed detour will direct travelers to the westbound Pacific Avenue on-ramp to access southbound I-5, according to WSDOT.

WSDOT asks for commuter cooperation and patience while crews maintain and preserve the roadway.
