Crash involving two semi trailers causes long backups on I-5 near Olympia

Update: WSDOT's traffic map shows the backups have cleared.

Initial post: A wreck that involved two semi trailers was causing long backups on Interstate 5 near Olympia Wednesday night.

The Washington State Patrol posted on social media just after 6:30 p.m.: “NB and SB I-5 collision involving 2 semi trucks at milepost 103. Traffic is getting by in one lane. There are no reported injuries at this time. Please be patient as troopers are on scene investigating. There are tow trucks enroute.”

Just after 7:45 p.m., the State Patrol posted an update: “Good news! The tows are on scene and starting with the southbound lanes first. Please be patient.”

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s online traffic map showed long backups on southbound I-5 still as of 8 p.m.
