Unidentified driver leaves the scene of overnight crash in Shelton, WSP says

An unidentified driver crashed a van in Shelton overnight Sunday, fled from the scene, and then that overturned vehicle was struck by a second driver, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 3:50 a.m, the van driver was headed north on U.S. Highway 101, near Sanderson Field, in Mason County.

Troopers say the driver left the road, crashed into an embankment and rolled the vehicle onto the driver’s side. The driver, though, fled from the scene, according to the State Patrol.

A second vehicle then came along, also headed north, and crashed into the van’s undercarriage, troopers say.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 57-year-old Shelton man, was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. His 49-year-old female passenger from Port Angeles also was hurt and transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
