Bicyclist killed in Mason County wreck Friday afternoon, WSP says

A bicyclist was hit and killed in a wreck on state Route 3 in Mason County Friday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 3:50 p.m., the unidentified bicyclist and the driver of a pick-up truck were both headed north on SR 3 at Anthony Road.

Troopers say the following happened: the cyclist was riding on the right shoulder of the highway, the truck moved to the left to pass the cyclist, but then the cyclist “moved into the northbound lane” and was struck.

The cyclist died at the scene, according to the State Patrol.

The 44-year-old Shelton man driving the truck stopped at the scene and was one of the callers who called 911, troopers say.
