Olympia driver injured in 3-car I-5 wreck early Sunday, WA State Patrol says

A 26-year-old Olympia man was injured overnight Sunday after he became involved in a three-car wreck on Interstate 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver who triggered the crash left the scene, according to the State Patrol.

A separate driver, a 72-year-old Kent woman, died at the scene of the wreck. She was identified as Nadezhda S. Gorbachenko, troopers say.

About 3:15 a.m., all three drivers, including the driver who left the scene, were headed south on I-5 in the SeaTac area.

Troopers say the unidentified driver struck the Kent woman’s car, which caused it to become disabled and stop perpendicular to the road. The Olympia driver then crashed into her car.

He was injured and taken to St. Anne Hospital in Burien, according to the State Parol.

Following the wreck, the road was blocked for more than four hours, troopers say.
