Driver, passenger injured in Thurston County freeway ramp wreck, WSP says

A 20-year-old man is facing multiple criminal charges after he wrecked his vehicle on a northbound Interstate 5 ramp in Lacey early Sunday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Both the driver, an Everett man, and his 17-year-old female passenger were injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Other identifying information about the teen was not disclosed because she is considered a juvenile.

He is facing vehicular assault and driving under the influence charges, according to the State Patrol.

About 4:30 a.m., the driver had entered the northbound I-5 on-ramp from Marvin Road. He then drove off the road to the left and finally came to a stop 60 feet off the road, troopers say.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol.

The freeway ramp was closed for about four hours following the wreck.
