Burglary suspect falls from third-story window, Lacey police say

A man suspected of domestic violence jumped or fell from the third floor of an apartment building after officers contacted him, according to Lacey police.

About 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched after 911 received a call from a woman who said a person came up and hit her and then the call became disconnected, said Sgt. Derek Thompson in an email.

Police arrived in the 5400 block of 15th Avenue Northeast and then made in-person contact at the apartment, he said.

A man answered the door. The man then closed the door right away and then jumped or fell out of the third-story window, according to police.

Lacey police then requested medical aid because the man was injured by the fall. He was later taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Asked about the extent of the suspect’s injuries, Thompson said he was conscious and talking to police.

Police interviewed the woman and developed probable cause to arrest the man on suspicion of felony violation of a no-contact order and residential burglary. Officers referred the case to prosecutors to consider possible charges, Thompson said.
