Crews revive family dog with oxygen after house fire in Thurston County

Several fire agencies responded to a residential structure fire on Sunday morning that displaced a family. The family’s dog also had to be rescued from the home and revived with oxygen.

According to a May 4 news release from the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority, crews were dispatched at around 11 a.m. on May 3 to a house fire on Lindsay Road Southeast, near Lake Lawrence. Neighbors reported the fire, according to the release.

One person was at home when the fire broke out, and they were able to exit safely before firefighters arrived, according to the release. Crews arrived and found heavy smoke and a fire on the second floor of the home.

The Bald Hills Fire Department said on social media that the family dog was found inside the home and rescued, and she had to be revived with water and oxygen. The department said it was the first water tender to arrive on scene, and it took about an hour for the fire to be put out.

No injuries to civilians or fire personnel were reported, according to the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority’s news release. The Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced family.

Lacey Fire District 3, South Thurston Fire & EMS, the Bald Hills Fire Department, and the East Olympia Fire Department assisted the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority on the scene, according to the release. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
