A west Olympia power outage has delayed the start time for several schools in the area by three hours, the Olympia School District announced Wednesday morning.

The power outage is affecting Capital High School, Hansen Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School and Thurgood Marshall Middle School, according to the district.

Puget Sound Energy information shows that about 2,300 customers are without power in west Olympia. The power outage was first reported at 7:18 a.m. and is expected to be restored at 10:30 a.m., according to the PSE outage map.

The cause of the outage is under investigation, according to PSE.

The school district added in its announcement that schools will dismiss today at the regular Wednesday 50-minute early release time.

There is no preschool on Wednesdays. Transition to Kindergarten will continue as scheduled, according to the district.
