Olympia woman accused of ‘felony hit-and-run’ that injured 2 on US 101
A two-car wreck hospitalized two drivers on U.S. 101 south of Shelton Tuesday evening, the Washington State Patrol said.
The collision occurred at about 5:26 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 101 and Lynch Road Southeast, which is just north of Kamilche and near Little Skookum Inlet, according to a WSP press memo.
A 32-year-old Olympia driver allegedly lost control of her vehicle as she travelled north and struck another northbound vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Tahuya woman, per the memo. Both vehicles reportedly rolled and came to a rest on opposite shoulders of the highway. In an X post, Trooper Katherine Weatherwax described the incident as a felony hit-and-run collision, meaning the victim suffered “substantial injury.”
“The suspect fled on foot and was quickly detained on Brewer Road by troopers,” Weatherwax said in her post.
Troopers allege the Olympia woman drove under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the memo. She was transported to Mason General Hospital and charges are pending. Meanwhile, the Tahuya woman was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital.
Both vehicles were totaled in the collision.
