Thurston County 911 callers reported explosions, shed fire. Crews saved the home
Lacey firefighters saved a home after a fire fully engulfed an adjacent shed Monday morning.
The fire occurred at a property near the 3600 block of Carpenter Road Southeast, Battalion Chief Ethan Kruse told The Olympian Wednesday. Multiple 911 callers reported a shed fire and the sound of small explosions, Kruse said. Firefighters arrived quickly at about 11:05 a.m. Monday and extinguished the blaze in a few minutes, he said.
Crews also applied water to an adjacent home that appeared to be taking heat damage, Kruse said. The home would likely have caught fire if the response had been delayed, he said.
“It could have gotten over into the home side of the property, but those crews were able to knock that fire down in four minutes,” Kruse said.
No residents or firefighters were harmed, Kruse said. Crews checked the home as they responded to the blaze and found no one still inside, he added.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Kruse said.
Lacey Fire District 3 shared details about the incident on Facebook Monday but did not provide a location. The post indicates the fire was starting to spread to the home, but fire crews stopped it before it reached an attic.
“Moments like these are a reminder that every second counts,” the post reads.
